Clarendon Hall softball, Hilton Head Christian baseball win state titles
Cardinal Newman, Augusta Christian to play if game for AAAA baseball title, Game 2 of Class A baseball series rescheduled again
Clarendon Hall won its third straight softball state championship on Wednesday, while Hilton Head Christian Academy ended Pee Dee Academy's 2-year run as a baseball state champion.
The Saints defeated Colleton Prep Academy 3-2 at the CPA field in Walterboro to claim the SCISA AA softball crown with a sweep of the best-of-3 series. HHCA beat Pee Dee 12-4 at its home field in Bluffton to sweep the AAA baseball series.
There are two baseball series still going on in the SCISA state playoffs. The AAAA series
will go to a deciding third game after Cardinal Newman beat Augusta Christian School 7-6 on Wednesday at the CN field in Columbia. The final game will be played at the Lexington High School field beginning at 7 p.m.
Game 2 of the Class A series was rained out for the second straight day on Wednesday. Richard Winn Academy will again try to play host to Holly Hill Academy in Winnsboro beginning at 6 p.m. RWA, the defending state champion, leads the series 1-0.
