Moncks Corner—It is truly amazing that in this day an age of the transfer portal that the state of South Carolina had 40 football players in the Class of 2025 sign with major colleges over the past 50 days or so.

First and foremost, we wish to thank Mark Grainger and the fine folks at Modern Turf in Irmo and Rembert for their sponsorship of this recruiting page each month!

The latest football signee was Heathwood Hall defensive back Onis Konanbanny (6-1, 180) who chose Florida over Tennessee and South Carolina.

It is wonderful to see that North Myrtle Beach tight end Brown Reaves signed with Coastal Carolina after three great seasons on the Chiefs varsity. Reaves is one of the hardest working football players in the state. He could develop into a top flight H-back also.

I observed Westside wide receiver Chamarryus Bomar (5-10,180) in person twice during the football play-offs and it was also great to see him get a late offer form West Virginia where he signed recently.

Bomar’s teammate at Westside, Armoni Weaver (5-10, 270) has ball skills on both sides of the ball for sure. Weaver is versatile as either a receiver or lock down corner back. Weaver has also signed with West Virginia.

Summerville High DL Yasir Smith (6-5, 266) was a late pick-up for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Smith was a three-year starter for the Green Wave and he fits well in the mantra of bigger, stronger, and faster for sure.

What made this late push for South Carolina football talent happen was the NCAA increasing football scholarships from 85 to 105 starting this upcoming season.

South Carolina signed a recent record 12 in-state players to a football scholarship from the 2025 class and Clemson signed three in state players including number one DE prospect Amare Adams (6-3, 310) from South Florence.

Colleges like Virginia Tech, Florida, Boston College, North Carolina, NC State, and East Carolina flocked to the Palmetto State this past recruiting season to sign Palmetto State prep football players.

The 2026 class will be just as strong and the HSSR salutes the hard work of all of these 40 players who worked hard to make their dreams of playing major college football a reality,
