SCISA BASKETBALL ENTERS 2025 BATTLES

Goose Creek, S.C. – The SCISA 2024-25 basketball season in now entering the 2025 portion of the regular season. Can the 2023-24 season Champions defend their titles?


In the Girls Division Heathwood Hall (4A) and Cathedral Academy (2A) hope to defend their Titles. Last season Hilton Head Christian (3A) Champion moves up to 4A and Cross Schools (1A) Champion moves up to 2A in 2024-25.


In the Boys Division Cardinal Newman (4A), Hilton Head Prep (3A), Cathedral Academy (2A) and Curtis Baptist (1A) hope to defend their titles).


The Class 4A Girls Division entering the 2025 half of the season has Northside Christian (14-0), First Baptist (13-1), John Paul ll (10-1) and Trinity Collegiate (9-1) looking strong to make the finals.


The Class 3A Girls Division entering the 2025 half of the season has Pee Dee Academy (8-0), Colleton Prep Academy (9-1), Greenwood Christian (5-1), Orangeburg Prep (5-1) and Hilton Prep Academy (8-7) looking strong to make the finals.


The Class 2A Girls Division entering the 2025 half of the season has Lee Academy (4-2), Laurens Academy (5-3), Andrew Jackson Academy (6-5), Charleston Collegiate (3-3) and Cross Schools (6-7) hoping for deep runs in post-season.


The Class 1A Girls Division entering the 2025 half of the season is wide open for the taking. Curtis Baptist (8-4), Richard Winn Academy (4-4), Mead Hall (3-3), Wardlaw Academy (3-6) and Jefferson Davis Academy (1-3) are all hoping for a strong finish.


The Class 4A Boys Division entering the 2025 half of the season has Ben Lippen (12-1), Augusta Christian (12-2), Northside Christian (10-1), Porter-Gaud (8-4) and Wilson Hall Academy (7-3) looking strong to make the finals.


The Class 3A Boys Division entering the 2025 half of the season has Hilton Head Prep (12-3), Calhoun Academy (10-2), Greenwood Christian (9-4), Pee Dee Academy (6-1) and Christian Academy (7-3) looking strong to make the finals.


The Class 2A Boys Division entering the 2025 half of the season has Cathedral Academy (14-6), Andrew Jackson Academy (10-3), Charleston Collegiate (9-3), Thomas Heyward (5-2) and Faith Christian (6-4) hoping for a strong finish to the season.


The Class 1A Boys Division entering the 2025 half of the season has Curtis Baptist (7-6), Richard Winn Academy (6-3), Jefferson Davis Academy (5-4), Newberry Academy (5-4) and Mead Hall (4-3) hoping for a deep run for the title.


The scoring leaders in the Girls Division are Courtney Campbell of Hilton Head Prep (26.1), Lauren Jacobs of Heathwood Hall (26.0), Cokey Suddeth of Palmetto Christian (22.7), Delaney Caldwell of Spartanburg Christian (21.0), Evie Godfrey of Northside Christian (19.5), Jaliyah Terry of Curtis Baptist (18.5), Maliyah Birch of Northwood Academy (17.3), Chaelyn Tifre of Northside Christian (13.8), Lillian Lucas of Patrick Henry (13.5), Macie Butler of Curtis Baptist (11.6), McKinley Beard of Andrew Jackson Academy (11.5), Sabreya Monsanto of Heathwood Hall (11.5) and Lily Termini of John Paul ll (11.3).


The scoring leaders in the Boys Division are Jody Gillam of Holly Hill Academy (28.2), Ty Kennedy of Greenwood Christian (26.3), Thompson Stone of Dillon Christian (25.0), Matio Castillo of Colleton Prep (24.3), Jackson Outlar of Dillon Christian (22.5), Ty Harpring of Hilton Head Prep (22.2), Avery Ravenell of Orangeburg Prep (22.0), Tucker Shealy of Shannon Forest (20.5), Bryce Ward of Cathedral Academy (20.5), Colton Betosky of Community Christian (20.4) and Nasir Void of Jefferson Davis Academy (20.3).

By David Shelton Senior Writer Charleston – First Baptist School has new leadership within its football program and athletic department for the coming 2025-26 school year. Kevin Mapp was hired as the new head football coach in the early spring and Jay Godbolt was hired as the new athletic director at the start of the summer. Mapp has extensive coaching experience on both the college and high school levels while also working in law enforcement. First Baptist is his first head coaching position. Mapp last coached defensive linemen at James Island Charter High and has had coaching stints at James Madison, Hampden-Sydney, Georgetown, Marshall, Missouri State and Coastal Carolina. Mapp graduated from James Madison and was a defensive lineman on the 2004 Division I-AAA (now FCS) national championship team. “Coaching has always been my passion,” Mapp said. “Ever since I was playing, I wanted to be a coach. I have always found a way to coach while working in law enforcement. I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunities to do both.” Mapp has been with the Charleston County police department for the last 10 years. He took some time away from coaching to start a family. “I felt like First Baptist was the perfect fit for me and my family,” Mapp says. “It’s a great opportunity at a great place. The kids here work hard and there is a lot of support from the administration. I’m excited to be the head football coach at First Baptist.” Mapp has hired coordinators on both sides of the ball. Will McCombs , once the head coach of the program, will call the offensive plays. Chris Hart comes over from James Island as the defensive coordinator. “Our numbers are improving and the kids are working hard,” Mapp said. “I feel like we can be a competitive team. It’s year one of the building process.” Godbolt has been a coach and athletic director in the Charleston area for nearly two decades. As the boys basketball coach at Charleston Collegiate, Godbolt coached three state championship teams. He also has been a coach and athletic director at Lowcountry Leadership Academy. Godbolt has more than 450 career victories as a head basketball coach. Current First Baptist basketball coach Antoine Saunders was Godbolt’s assistant at Charleston Collegiate.
