Pinewood Looking to Make Some Noise in SCISA playoffs

Summerville – The Pinewood Prep Football team is riding a three-game winning streak into the second round of the SCISA 3A playoffs.
The Panthers claimed a 60-13 win over visiting Northside Christian from Lexington Nov. 7 during the first round. Pinewood began pulling starters at the beginning of the third quarter and held a 54-0 lead entering the final quarter.
“It was a good game for us, but I still feel we haven’t played our best game yet,” said Pinewood Coach DeVonte Holloman. “That could be a good thing, or a bad thing. We have a lot of playmakers and we are still trying to move them around and put them in spots we feel is best and I think we did a good job of that tonight.”
The Panthers host Florence Christian (8-2) for the second round. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 at Pinewood.
Pinewood quarterback Silas Brawner has completed 154 passes this season for 2,931 yards and nine touchdowns and has ran for two TDs. His favorite target is Jayden Alexander who has 51 receptions for 1,075 yards and 13 TDs. Lavoris Lucas has 41 catches for 792 yards and nine TDs. Heyward Moore has 47 catches for 497 yards and five TDs. Tre Green has 26 catches for 419 yards and nine TDs.
Grayson Salego leads the team in rushing with 88 carries for 662 yards and 11 TDs. Lucas has 26 carries for 252 yards and three TDs. Jeremy Kendall has 45 carries for 208 yards and four TDs.
Swimming
Pinewood Prep swimmers had a strong showing during the 2025 SCISA A/AA Swimming Championships.
Several Panthers placed during the state meet at the North Charleston Aquatics Center Oct. 11. Pinewood Prep seniors Beckham Touchberry and Cameron Thrower both won three gold medals. Touchberry placed first in the 100-yard Butterfly with a 50.82 time and won the 100 Backstroke with a 52.27 time. Thrower won the 50 Free with a 22.70 time and placed first in the 100 Free with a 50.09 time. The swimmers also teamed up with Carson Good and Jake Nevin to help the Panthers’ 400 Free Relay team place first.
Good placed fourth in the 100 Fly and fifth in the 100 Breast. Mason Beatty placed fifth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 Back. Nevin placed sixth in the 100 Breast and ninth in the 100 Free. Jace Brock placed eighth in the 500 Free.
Beatty, Brock, Hayden Presley and Theo Sanderson teamed up for a seventh place finish in the 200 Free Relay.
In the girls’ meet, Emma Jo Goodhall, Mariam Abed and Arianna Perry helped two Lady Panthers relay teams to a medal, pairing up with Marlie Crosby on the second place 200 Medley Relay team and with Emily Petras on the third place 400 Free Relay team.
Perry placed fourth in the 500 Free and fifth in the 100 Back. Abed placed sixth in the 100 Fly and seventh in the 100 Back. Crosby placed fifth in the 50 Free. Beau Henderson placed 10th in the 500 Free.
Milly Kmetz, Idryss Finch, Beau Henderson and Petras combined on the 200 Free Relay team that placed ninth.
Volleyball
Pinewood Prep junior Maddie Eidson has been named to the SCISA Girls Volleyball All-State Team. She also received all-region honors and was selected for the SCISA All-Star Game. Eidson led the Panthers to a 15-10 record this season.
Cross Country
The Pinewood Prep Girls placed fifth during the 2025 SCISA 4A Cross Country Championships Nov. 1 at Heathwood Hall.
Senior Kiyah Morris led Pinewood, finishing in 20:55 to place 24th. Elizabeth Rankin, Ava House, Lilli Robinson, Abigail Chambrovich, Kiley McGill and Evie Windham all placed in the Top 50.
The Pinewood Boys placed 11th in their state meet. Senior Will Fields led the Panthers, finishing in in 17:39 to place 37th. Trailing for the Panthers were Reid Brasher, Dylan Young, Jaydan Larose, Michael Fortkort and Lucas Benzenberg, who all placed in the Top 100.
In October, the Pinewood Girls won their region meet with eight runners finishing in the Top 14. Chambrovich led the way placing third and Rankin placed sixth. They both received All-Region honors.
Fields placed sixth in the region boys’ race to also earn All-Region honors.
