Marlboro Academy’s Kaden Conner Named “NETC” Female Student Athlete of the Month
Kaden Conner is a junior and a three-sport athlete at Marlboro Academy, where she plays volleyball, basketball, and golf.
Bennettsville — Kaden Conner is a junior and a three-sport athlete at Marlboro Academy, where she plays volleyball, basketball, and golf. She’s been playing basketball since church league starting about age 8, then volleyball starting in the 6th grade and she started playing golf around age twelve.
Conner said she enjoys all the sports, but volleyball is her favorite. “Playing sports means learning team skills and starting at an early age that really helps develop communication skills as we try to help make each other better.” Conner went on to say, “Playing sports is a great avenue for personal growth.”
In the classroom she carries a 4.0 GPA, and even though she’s just a junior, she says her priority after high school is her education and she doesn’t expect to have time for next level sports unless it’s a club sport or maybe intermural games. She is still undecided about which school, but it could be Clemson, Georgia, Coastal Carolina, or College of Charleston and she plans to pursue a Public Relations and Marketing degree.
For all her athletic and academic accomplishments, Conner has been chosen the “NETC” Female Student Athlete of the Month.”
This honor is bestowed through a partnership between the Northeastern Technical College and “The High School Sports Report” with the publication communicating with athletic directors at high schools in the counties of Dillon, Marlboro, and Chesterfield, where NETC serves the needs of high school students seeking to earn dual credits in various subjects that can be transferred to colleges after a student’s high school graduation.
The NETC is currently offering over 44 online dual credit courses for the 2026-27 school year to students in the three counties they serve.
Currently, Conner is enrolled in two dual credit online courses offered by NETC. This is her first semester of classes, and she is working on basic requirements for freshman year by starting with the foreign language requirement a sociology class. She plans to continue taking classes each semester in high school.
When asked about what NETC did to help her, Conner said “It has really helped me prepare in both academic realms. It’s opened my eyes about the college environment, the course load, and it helps me prioritize my work through better time management.”
Conner describes her initial experience with online college level work, “it’s early but my professors have been very helpful and I’m really enjoying my classes.”
As junior in high school, playing sports, and enrolled in the NETC online classes, when asked about time management, Conner said, “it’s important to understand school and sports go hand in hand and working hard in school will ultimately lead to more success and opportunities in sports and life.” She says that it’s “important to prioritize the important things and scheduling the time to get those projects done without procrastinating is a key to success.”
As for a favorite sports memory, Conner says over the years she has many good memories. What makes them special is “friendships and great times working together as a team at practice or in games.” She says, “teammates are a big reason I love playing sports with these friends and the memories we share.”
