Jackie McIntosh back in charge of Clarendon Hall baseball
Clarendon Hall will play Class A football beginning in 2026 after reclassification
Summerton – He’s baaack!!
Well, he never really went anywhere, but Jackie McIntosh is once again in charge of the Clarendon Hall baseball program.
McIntosh has been a staple in Clarendon Hall athletics for several years, particularly when it comes to baseball and softball. He has alternated back and forth between baseball – serving as both an assistant coach and head coach – and softball, helping head coach Jeffrey Bays and the ultra-successful program.
Although the Saints got off to a 1-4 start playing in Woodland High School’s wood bat tournament, McIntosh likes what he’s seen.
“Theres a lot of potential there,” McIntosh said. “I think we can have a good season. I feel like the future is very bright. We’re going to have ups and downs because we’re so young.”
The Saints lost to Colleton Prep Academy 7-0 and 9-7 in their first two games in the tournament. They followed that with a 3-2 triumph over Bamberg-Ehrhardt. Clarendon Hall then dropped a 4-3 decision to Lowcountry Leadership before falling to Colleton County 8-4.
“Weve seen some good arms,” McIntosh said. “Our at-bats are getting better. We’re heading in the right direction. We’re pretty young. We just need to play and get better.”
Clarendon Hall has a roster that includes three seniors, three juniors, three sophomores, one freshmen and three eighth-graders.
The seniors are Thomas Shorter, Tommy Lei Atkinson and Garrett Clayton, the juniors are Cole Richurg, Zander White and Jake Robertson, the sophomores are Joey Hatchell, Talan Dymond and Josh White, the freshman is Waylon Geddings, and the eighth-graders are Cayden Richburg, Jack Wyatt Reynolds and Grayson Holliday.
Unless he’s pitching, Hatchell will be starting in center field. “He’s a really good ball player,” McIntosh said.
Cole Richburg will be in the pitching mix, especially after tossing six shutout innings in relief in the win over Bamberg-Ehrhardt.
McIntosh expects Zander White, Robertson, Geddings, Cayden Richburg and Reynolds to see plenty of time on the mound as well.
Clarendon Hall will have two eighth-graders holding down the fort up the middle defensively. Reynolds will be the shortstop, while Holliday will handle the catching duties. Josh White will be at second base, Shorter will see a lot of time at third with Dymond rounding out the infield at first base.
Atkinson and Zander White will be vying for time in right with Geddings and Cayden Richburg fighting for time in right.
CLARENDON HALL DROPPING CLASS IN FOOTBALL
After playing in the AA classification for football over the past two seasons, Clarendon Hall will be returning to Class A for the 2026-27 school year.
SCISA’s biannual reclassification has Clarendon Hall dropping back down to Class A. The Saints football program played two years at Class A before being moved to AA. Prior to that, Clarendon Hall had played a couple of decades in 8-man football.
Clarendon Hall went 0-10 in each of its two years in AA. Two years ago, it was under Todd Larrimer, while current head coach Shane Wallace was in charge last year.
The program is in the midst of a 21-game losing streak. The Saints lost their final game of the 2023 season to Lee Academy in the first round of the Class A playoffs. They went 8-3 that year.
While there will be changes in football, Clarendon Hall will compete in the AAA classification in all other sports as it has done the past two years.omes to baseball and softball.
