Athletic Director Cody Slaughter Returns to the Low Country at Beaufort HS
Cody Slaughter returns to the lowcountry at Beaufort and is getting to know all of his coaches and learning how this district functions.

Beaufort - Athletic Director Cody Slaughter is literally getting acclimated to his new role with the Eagles’ program.
Slaughter had a previous three-year stop at Bluffton, and a six-year stay at South Florence in the same capacity.
He’s confident he can be settled before the fall season begins. Slaughter replaced Bradley Adams, who stepped down to take the head football coach position at Colleton County.
“I’ve been here a week, so I’m still figuring this out,” stated Slaughter. “Right now just getting to know all of our coaches and learning how the district functions.
“We have great coaches on staff, and I am looking forward to working with them.”
Head football coach Bryce Lybrand is back for his ninth season in charge of the program. The Eagles finished last season with an overall 3-8 record.
Chris Warbington will be the Eagles’ offensive coordinator, and Rob Gorrell will run the defense.
Besides Lybrand, other coaches back in their respective sports are Jeff Abrams, golf; Rocco Russo, boys’ and girls’ tennis; Julie Pike Jones, boys’ and girls’ swimming; Hillary Savarese, cheerleading; - Jeremy Huff, boys’ basketball; Reggie Hones, girls’ basketball; Adam Mullen, baseball; Scott Rast, softball; Jonathan Caratella, boys’ soccer; Jessica Porter, girls’ soccer; Joe Garry, boys’ lacrosse; Megan Whitney, girls’ lacrosse; Reggie Jones, boys’ track; and Herb Glaze, girls’ track.
New head coaches joining the staff are Marlena Pegula, girls’ volleyball; and Brooks Maxwell, boys’ and girls’ cross country. Slaughter is looking to hire a wrestling coach.
Once he gets settled, Slaughter’s goals for the overall program will become quite clear both on and off the courts and fields.
“Our goal is to win championships,” stressed Slaughter. “Our purpose is to develop young people who act with integrity, respect others, and lead with passion inside our building and on their respective teams.”
