Saturday schedule has all remaining teams playing at 9:30 a.m. in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach – Each of the four defending state champions are undefeated going into the final day of the SCISA volleyball state tournament on Saturday at Myrtle Beach Sports Center.

Play begins at 9:30 a.m. in each of the four classifications.

Three-time defending AAAA state champion Cardinal Newman and Palmetto Christian are the last two undefeated teams and are guaranteed spots in the championship match of their respective double-elimination brackets. Cardinal Newman faces Northside Christian Academy in the upper bracket while Palmetto Christian takes on Wilson Hall in the lower bracket. If they win, they advance to the championship round needing to be beaten twice. If either loses, it will still be in the championship round, but in a winner-takes-all match.

The elimination game in the upper bracket will pit Porter-Gaud against Northwood Academy, while the lower bracket elimination game will have Hilton Head Christian Academy meeting Ben Lippen.

The AAA tournament has the same format. Two-time defending state champion Shannon Forest and Florence Christian School are the last two undefeated teams. Shannon Forest meets Orangeburg Prep in the upper bracket with the elimination game pitting Pee Dee Academy against Patrick Henry Academy. The lower bracket has FCS taking on St. John’s Christian Academy, while Spartanburg Christian Academy will take on Greenwood Christian School in the elimination match.

There are still two undefeated teams remaining in each of the brackets in both the AA and Class A tournaments. In AA, defending state champion Laurens Academy will meet Cross Schools in the upper bracket while defending runner-up The King’s Academy will meet Andrew Jackson Academy. The elimination games will have Oakbrook Prep against Cathedral Academy in the upper bracket and Charleston Collegiate facing Thomas Heyward Academy in the lower bracket.

In Class A, defending champion Cambridge Academy will meet defending runner-up Wardlaw in the upper bracket final two, while the lower bracket will have Newberry Academy taking on Curtis Baptist. Newberry and Curtis Baptist beat Holly Hill and Richard Winn Academy, respectively, on Friday. They were the two teams to receive first-round byes in the lower bracket.

HHA and RWA will meet in an elimination game while Jefferson Davis Academy and South Aiken Baptist will meet in the upper bracket elimination match.

The bracket winners in each class will meet in state championship matches scheduled for the first of next week at neutral sites. Each match will be best-of-5.
