SCISA volleyball state championship matches set for Monday, Tuesday
Cardinal Newman, First Presbyterian, Laurens Academy, Cambridge all trying to repeat
Two SCISA volleyball state championship matches will be played on Monday and the other two will be played on Tuesday.
The Class A and AA championship matches will be played on Monday and both will be in Columbia. Cambridge Academy will be trying to defend its Class A title when it meets Curtis Baptist at 6:30 p.m. at Ben Lippen School.
The AA title match will be a repeat of last year’s matchup, pitting defending champion Laurens Academy against The King’s Academy. It will be played at Cardinal Newman High School beginning at 6:30 p.m. Laurens, which is 27-5 on the season, is after its fourth straight state title. TKA, which is 21-6, is playing in its fourth consecutive title match.
The AAAA and AAA championship matches are on Tuesday. Cardinal Newman is going after its fourth straight AAAA title when it takes on Palmetto Christian Academy at Pinewood Prep in Summerville beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Cardinals are 44-9 while PCA is 26-8-2.
The AAA matchup will have First Presbyterian at Shannon Forest going after its third straight state title against Florence Christian School. The match will be played at Cardinal Newman beginning at 6 p.m. Shannon Forest is 41-6 while the Eagles are 24-9.
