SCISA softball, baseball state championship series begin today

Sumter -- The South Carolina Independent Schools Association is set to crown its state champions in softball and baseball in its four classifications beginning on Monday with best-of-3 series.


Pee Dee Academy will be going after a fifth straight state championship in softball while the Laurence Manning Academy softball team and the Hilton Head Christian Academy baseball team wil both be after their third straight titles. Carolina Academy and Holly Hill Academy in softball and Lee Academy in baseball will be trying to defend their titles.


The softball championships will have LMA taking on Pinewood Prep in AAAA, Pee Dee taking on Colleton Prep Academy in AAA, Carolina will meet The King's Academy in AA, and Holly Hill and Richard Winn Academy in Class A. For baseball, Hilton Head Chriistian will meet Cardinal Newman in AAAA, Calhoun Academy will take on Williamsburg Academy in AAA, Lee will meet Dorchester Academy in AA, and Marlboro Academy will face W.W. King in Class A.


In softball, Laourence Manning will play host to Pinewood Prep at Julie Skolar Field on Monday beginning at 6 p.m. The series will move to Summerville on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. statt. If a deciding game is needed, it will be played on Wednesday at a neutral site. That is the case for the other softball if games as well. 


in AAA, Pee Dee will be at home on Monday at 6 p.m. while Colleton Prep will be at home on Tuesday starting at 5 p.m. In AA, Carolina Academy will play host to The King's Academy on Monday at 6:30 p.m. with the series switching to Florence on Tuesday, also with a 6:30 p.m. start. Holly Hill will play host to the Class A opener on Monday beginning at 6 p.m. with Richard Winn at home on Tuesday, also at 6 p.m. 


In baseball, the AAAA series will open at Cardinal Newman in Columbia on Monday at 7 p.m. Game 2 will be played at HHCA on Tuesday, also starting at 7 p.m. If a third game is necessary, it will be played at a neutral site on Thursday. That is the case with the other three series as well.,


The AAA series will open at Calhoun on Monday beginning at 6 p.m. Game 2 is set for Tuesday in Kingstree beginning at 6:30 p.m. If a third game is needed it will be played at Wilson Hall's Tommy Jones Field in Sumter at a time to be determined.


Dorchester will host the AA opener on Monday at 7 p.m. with the site switching to Bishopville for Game 2 on Tuesday, also at 7 p.m. The Class A series will start at W.W., King on Monday with a 6 p.m. start. Tuesday's Game 2 is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start in Bennettsville.
