Chapin beats T.L. Hanna 7-3 in AAAAA Division II baseball title series opener

Four of six championship series playing games today

   Anderson – The Chapin High School baseball team opened AAAAA Division I state championship series with a 7-3 road victory against T.L. Hanna on Wednesday.

 

     The Eagles, who improved to 21-9 on the season, can clinch the state title with a victory at home today in the best-of-3 series. Game 2 is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.

 

     Chapin catcher Drew Greer had a big game. He was 3-for-4 with five runs batted in.

 

     Hanna dropped to 18-17.

 

           The opening game of the AAAA series between A.C. Flora and Airport was once again postponed on Wednesday. The game has been rescheduled for a 7 p.m. start today at Flora with Game 2 set for Friday at Airport, also at 7.

 

     The second game of the AA series between Clinton and Atlantic Collegiate Academy scheduled for Wednesday in Clinton was postponed.

 

     The game has been rescheduled for Friday with a 3 p.m. start. The Red Devils lead the series 1-0 after winning 5-1 in the opener.

 

If a third game is needed, it is scheduled for Saturday at a neutral site.

 

     The opening game of the AAAAA Division I series between Dorman and James Island is set to begin today at 7 p.m. at Dorman.

 

     In the AAA series, Southside Christian School can win a second straight state title with a victory over Oceanside Collegiate Academy beginning at 6 p.m. today in Simpsonville.

 

     The Sabres won the opening game of the series 7-3 on Tuesday in Mt. Pleasant. If a third game is necessary, it will be played on Saturday at a neutral site.
