Fox Creek softball team starts 7-1 in region with Addie Goff in circle
Predators baseball team undefeated in region at 8-0
North Augusta – The Fox Creek High School softball team came into the year needing to replace graduated pitcher Addyson Snellings. She was the Region 4-AAA Player of the Year.
It appears the Predators have done a good job doing so. They own a 12-5 overall record and are 7-1 region mark.
“I am very satisfied and excited about the season,” said Fox Creek head coach Derrick Quinn, who has a career record or 383-134-1. “We have some great leadership, and the girls continue to work hard and get better.”
Addie Goff has taken over in the circle and has done a solid job. She owned a 2.77 earned run average and a 7-0 win-loss record in 48 innings pitched.
Fox Creek was batting .364 as a team and makes good use of its speed with 61 stolen bases. The Predators have six players with batting averages above .300 and four at .400 or above.
Jordyn Grant was batting an even .600 with 10 runs scored, seven runs batted in, three doubles and one triple. Ava Lindsay was batting .529 with a team high 17 RBI and seven doubles along with 13 runs scored.
Emma Widener was batting .485 with a team high 20 runs scored, and Alana Kate Henderson was batting an even .400 with 10 RBI.
Jada Jennings was hitting .346 with 12 RBI, and Addison Woodward was batting .343 with seven RBI.
Woodward, Grant and Lindsay were returning All-Region selections.
Paisley Byrd was leading the team in stolen bases with 15. Henderson had nine, Widener eight, and Lily Eidell six.
BASEBALL ALSO UNDEFEATED IN REGION
The Fox Creek baseball team is in position to win a third consecutive region championship. The Predators are undefeated in region play with an 8-0 record. They are 12-6-1 overall.
Lawson Lewis was leading the way offensively. He was batting .490 and had 11 extra-base hits among 24 hits with our home runs, four triples and three doubles. He also led the team in runs with 24 and RBI with 19 to go with 15 stolen basea.
Manny Abro owned a .442 average with 16 RBI and a team high 16 steals. Hayden James was hitting .350 with 20 runs and nine stolen baes, and Will Frischmann was hitting .364 with 18 RBI and eight steals.
Head coach Roby Gillespie has been spreading the innings pitched over several players. Eight different pitchers have worked at least five innings.
Leading the way was Will Fountain with 28 1/3 innings He had 42 strikeouts and just 10 walks to go with a 1.73 ERA. Frischmann had 18 2/3 innings and a 1.88 ERA, and Cameron Porter has a 4.20 ERA in 11 2/3.
