HSSR Roundup: North Myrtle Beach rallies to beat Loris 58-42

North Myrtle Beach – North Myrtle Beach High School scored 35 points in the fourth quarter, including the final 21 of the football game in the last 2 minutes, 33 seconds, to top previously unbeaten Loris 58-42 on Friday at the NMB field.

The Lions, who fell to 3-1 on the season, led 28-23 entering the fourth quarter. An 18-yard touchdown run by Deuce Stephens and an extra point from Jagger Suggs gave LHS a 35-23 lead with 10:20 remaining in the game.

     Mason Walker tossed a 57-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Chestnut, and Jayden Wilson had a 1-yard scoring run to put North Myrtle Beach up 37-35. A 79-yard TD reception by Kenny King from Ayden Scott put Loris back on top 42-37 with 5:17 left.

The Chiefs regained the lead when Walker threw a 20-yard scoring pass to Chestnut with 2:33 left to make it 45-42. Jonathan Evans scored on a 25-yard run with 1:20 remaining to make it 52-42.

The final play of the game saw Reo Stevenson return an interception 63 yards for a touchdown.

     Walker completed 12 of 21 passes for 174 yards for the Chiefs, who improved to 4-0. Chestnut had six catches for 117 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, while Evans had 65 yards on nine attempts.

     Nico Miller booted three field goals for NNB. The distances were 27, 30 and 43 yards.

     Stephens set a Lions single game school record by rushing for 307 yards on 22 carries. He ran for four TDs – 80, 1, 96 and 16 yards – giving him a school record 44 rushing touchdowns. He now has 45 career touchdowns, which broke the previous record of 43.

     Scott completed 9 of 19 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 51 yards on 10 carries. King had two catches for 88 yards, and Roderick Purcha had two receptions for 37 yards, one of them the other scoring pass.

     Dillon 45

     Marion 0

     Marion – Dillon scored 28 points in the first quarter and rolled to an easy 45-0 win over Marion on Friday at the MHS field.

     Noah Singletary rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries to lead the Wildcats, who improved to 3-1. Geno Lester also had two TD runs while running for 34 yards on six carries. Jucson Ndayisaba rushed for 53 yards on eight carries.

     Quarterback Nibras Harrison completed 8 of 14 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown. The TD pass was a 40-yarder to Jamarion Campbell.

     Malachi Nelson returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown. Jose Belancourt was perfect on all six of his extra point attempts and booted a 30-0yard field goal.

     The Swamp Foxes fell to 1-3.

     Saluda 56

     Ninety Six 7

Ninety Six – Saluda scored 28 points in the second quarter and rolled to a 56-7 victory over Ninety Six on Friday at the NSHS field.

The Tigers, who led 42-7 at halftime, improved to 2-1. The Wildcats dropped to 1-3.

Tristan Daniels rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries to lead SHS. Ceddion Springs had 63 yards on two carries, while Jaylen Bledsoe and Darryl Hill both had a rushing TD.

Avery Doyle completed 6 of 9 passes for 183 yards and two scores. Springs had a 26-yard touchdown catch, and Mekhi Minton and Jahlil Spencer both had TD receptions. Devyn Dunn had a 72-yard catch.

Jacob Evans completed 8 of 16 passes for 180 yards and a score for Ninety Six. Camrhyn Mathis had five catches for 127 yards and the TD.

Dutch Fork 35

Lucy Beckham 7

Mt. Pleasant – Dutch Fork improved to 3-0 with a 35-7 win over Lucy Beckham on Friday at the LBHS field.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Silver Foxes took a 21-0 lead into halftime. They led 28-7 after three quarters.

Quarterback Jaxon Knotts had a strong game for DFHS, which improved to 3-0. Knotts completed 18 of 26 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns. Maleek Miller had nine catches for 98 yards and a TD, Jalen Montgomery had two catches for 49 yards and a score, and Samajae Govan had two catches for 37 yards and a touchdown.

Knotts also rushed for 51 yards and a TD on eight carries, and Miller returned a punt 62 yards for the other score.

Lucy Beckham dropped to 2-2.

Barnwell 42

Denmark-Olar 18

Denmark – Barnwell’s Torye Pickens was outstanding on both sides of the football in the Warhorses’ 42-18 win over Denmark-Olar on Friday at the D-O field.

Defensively, Pickens had two interception returns for touchdowns, 18 tackles and two quarterback hurries. On offense, Pickens rushed for 93 yards and three more scores on 25 carries.

Josiah Gibson rushed for 62 yards on six carries and threw a 48-yard scoring pass to Jaiden Patterson.

Clarendon Hall 30

Beaufort Academy 21

Beaufort – Andrew Pritcher rushed for 279 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries to lead Clarendon Hall to a 30-21 victory over Beaufort Academy on Friday at the BA field.

Leading the way for Pritcher was guard Harrison Denny, who had nine pancake blocks.

The Saints evened their record at 2-2 while the Eagles dropped to 1-3.

Kingstree 38

Timberland 19

Kingstree – Kingstree picked up its first win of the season with a 38-19 triumph over Timberland on Friday at the KHS field.

The Blazers improved to 1-3 while the Wolves dropped to 1-2.

Quarterback Randy McFadden led Kingstree with 78 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries. He also completed 11 of 18 passes for 189 yards.

     South Florence 41

     West Florence 14

     Florence – South Florence won its Region 7-AAAA opener by beating archrival West Florence 41-14 on Friday at the West field.

     The Bruins, who improved to 2-2, led 28-7 at halftime. The Knights fell to 1-3.

     South rushed for 290 yards, led by Cameron James. He had 135 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. Quarterback De’eric Davis rushed for 30 yards and two scores on nine carries while completing 3 of 4 passes for 114 yards and a TD. Malik Richardson had a 78-yard TD catch.

Sumter 43

     Crestwood 7

     Sumter – Sumter rushed for 323 yards while rolling to a 43-7 victory over Sumter School District rival Crestwood on Friday at the CHS field.

     Leading the way for the Gamecocks was freshman Jamarion Witherspoon. He ran for 171 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries.

     Reggie Shannon had 68 yards and two scores on 18 carries, and quarterback Franklin Richardson had 51 yards on 11 carries.

     SHS improved to 3-1 while the Knights dropped to 2-2. 

     Chapman 45

     Clinton 13

     Inman – Chapman scored 31 straight points while rolling to a 45-13 win over Clinton on Friday at Panther Stadium to remain undefeated.

     Chapman is now 4-0. The Red Devils dropped to 2-2.

     Quarterback Ashton Moore completed 12 of 17 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Panthers. Keilon Tucker had seven catches for 105 yards and two scores, while Eric Gaffney had two catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.   

     Teagan Cantrell rushed for 120 yards on 13 carries, and Khameron Voe had 42 yards and two scores on seven totes.

     Gaffney also returned a kickoff 75 yars for a score. Ryan Raylyan made all six of Pat kicks and also had a 20-yard field goal.

     Angelo Cromer rushed for 92 yards on 18 carries to pace Clinton. Owen Glenn had 56 yars and two touchdowns on eight carries.

     Wilson Hall 33

     Thomas Sumter 12

     Sumter – Wilson Hall improved to 3-1 with a 33-12 win over Thomas Sumter Academy on Friday at Spencer Field.

     The Barons led 27-0 at halftime.

     Cameron Wilsey rushed for 118 yards and two scores on 15 carries to lead WH. Peyton Gilley led the defense with seven tackles.
