Carolina Academy girls capture third straight SCISA Class 1A state title.

Carolina Academy Claims Historic 3-Peat in SCISA Class 1A Girls State Tennis Championship


Lake City, SC — A dynasty of tennisdominance. There is no other way to describe the powerhouse that is the Carolina Academy girls varsity tennis team, who captured their third consecutive SCISA Class 1A state championship with a resounding 6-0 shutout over Pawleys Island's Lowcountry Prep.


Head Coach Cameron Sebnick had her squad locked in and putting a spectacular exclamation point on a season defined by grit, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. The Bobcats asserted their dominance early and never looked back, sweeping the singles matches to seal the championship before doubles play even begin.


Singles Match Breakdowns

No. 1 Singles: Harper Drew Richardson gave fans a thrilling finale to her match. After taking the first set 6-2, then dropping the second 1-6, Richardson dug deep in an absolute battle of a tiebreaker, outlasting her opponent 11-9 to secure the crucial top-flight win.

No. 2 Singles: Kiki Hanna took control early in her match, cruising to a straight-sets victory with a flawless second frame, winning 6-4, 6-0.

No. 3 Singles: Madelyn Matthews put on a masterclass in precision, utterly overwhelming her opponent to handily secure a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

No. 4 Singles: Ava Johnson showed championship poise after dropping her opening set 4-6. Johnson rallied back to take the second 6-4, before completely dominating the deciding tiebreaker with a 10-2 win.

No. 5 Singles: Scarlett Evans kept the momentum rolling for the Bobcats, delivering a sharp and focused performance to win in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.

No. 6 Singles: Maecy Gamble put the finishing touches on the flawless singles sweep, commanding the court from start to finish in a 6-2, 6-0.


Rounding out the championship roster for Carolina Academy were Anna Scott Johnson and Kaylie Lyerly, who provided vital depth and support for a lineup that has firmly established a tennis dynasty in Class 1A.


With three consecutive state titles now in the trophy case, Coach Sebnick and the Bobcats have set a golden standard for Carolina Academy athletics. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and community on an unforgettable 3-peat!
