Brooks Burnetts Returns To Timberland As Head Football Coach
Burnette, who played football at Timberland High from 2002-05 has returned to his alma mater as the next head football coach.

St. Stephen – Whoever coined the phrase (you can’t go home again” didn’t have Brooks Burnette in mind.
Burnette, who played football at Timberland High from 2002-05 has returned to his alma mater as the next head football coach. He was named head coach in April.
Burnette has spent the last several years as the offensive coordinator at Woodland High but could not turn down this opportunity to for his first head coaching position.
“Returning to Timberland is incredibly meaningful to me,” he said. “This is where I grew up as a player and developed a lifelong love for this game. My family’s legacy in Berkeley County football helped shape who I am today and I carry that with me every time I step on the field.”
Burnette comes from a coaching family, which includes his father Rick and brother Mathis, both former head football coaches. That coaching legacy continues to shape his passion for coaching and his commitment to student/athletes as he returns to place where his football journey began.
Following his prep career, Burnette continued his career at Newberry College where he played free safety and further developed his understanding of the game.
“Coach Burnette’s return to Timberland is a special moment for our school and community,” said Timberland principal Tim Evans. “He understands what it means to be a Wolf having been a part of the teams that that helped establish Timberland as one of the most successful in the Lowcountry. He brings passion, discipline and a commitment to excellence that will elevate our football program. We are excited to welcome him home and confident in the future under his leadership.”
Throughout his coaching career, Burnette has been recognized as one of the top offensive minds in the Lowcountry. He was named region offensive coordinator of the year in 2021 and has been selected to coach in several prestigious events, including the SCFCA Palmetto Combine Series and multiple high school all-star showcases.
“Timberland has a proud tradition as one of the winningest programs in the Lowcountry, and I and I am honored to come back and lead the Wolves,” Burnette said. “My goal is to help our student/athlete compete at the highest level and continue cementing Timberland as the standard of excellence in our area.”
