Barnwell Softball, Baseball teams Both Win Region Titles This Season

Barnwell—The Barnwell Warhorse softball team finished 20-7 on the season and they captured another region title during the season.

“We had a great season with a good mixture of young and experienced players,” said head coach Micael Beasley. “We are pleased to be returning 10 players next season from this team.”


The team was led by Howard University signee Jaidyn Devore who was selected to play in the North South all-star game. Devore ended up with 660 career strike-outs. She was a three -time region Player of the Year.


Seventh grader Kensley Terrapin has an outstanding season by hitting .415 and playing great defense in center field. Laney Grubbs earned all-region and all-state honors after batting .341. Kendall O’Berry made all-region after batting .325 and the team’s other two all-region picks were catcher Brianna Craft and third baseman Brooklyn Gordan who batted .314.


Barnwell Baseball Wins Region Title & Finishes 19-10 On Season


The Barnwell High baseball, head coached by Warhorse graduate Cody McCollum also won the baseball this season when they went 19-10 and finished 8-0 in the region.


The outstanding five- year varsity career of Cameron Austin came to close and the senior put up some huge numbers this season. He led the team with a .500 batting average with 42 RBI’s and 9 home runs.


On the mound Austin pitched 57/2 innings with 84 K’s and he had a 1.82 ERA.


Case Davis, a freshman batted .483 with 16 RBI’s and he has a bright future ahead of him. Hayden Pierce hit .385 while Joe Huggins was at .326.
