On the gridiron, the Swamp Foxes claimed a 44-14 win at rival Fort Dorchester Oct. 3 in the region opener for both teams to improve to 3-3 on the season. Senior running back Ryan Campbell and senior quarterback Trevor Kalisz had a role in three touchdowns each. The Ashley Ridge defense recorded four sacks and recovered four fumbles and the Swamp Foxes blocked a field goal.

Campbell scored on runs of 13 and 6 yards in the first quarter and turned a backwards pass into a 61-yard touchdown in the second quarter to give the Swamp Foxes a 21-7 lead early in the second quarter.

Malquan Pimentel sacked and stripped the FD QB on the Patriots’ ensuing possession. Defensive lineman JT King recovered the fumble and returned it 53 yards for a touchdown. Wyatt Carter added his fourth of five successful extra-point kicks for a 28-7 lead.

On the last play of the first half, Zach Woods nailed a 47-yard field goal to put the Swamp Foxes up 31-7.

In the second half, Kalisz connected with Jagger Spivey for a 10-yard TD pass and found the end zone on a 4-yard run for a 44-7 lead.

Campbell and Pimentel have both been selected for the 2025 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl.

Campbell has surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season and rushed for 12 touchdowns. He also has approximately 100 receiving yards and a TD catch.

Pimentel is among the Swamp Foxes’ leaders in both total tackles and unassisted tackles. He is the team leader in sacks with six in the first five games.

Ashley Ridges other wins this season came over Cane Bay and Wando. The Swamp Foxes’ losses came to Berkeley, Oceanside Collegiate and Carolina Forest.
