Andrews Moving To Region 9A
Andrews is still looking to fill their boys and girls soccer head coaching position. Last season the Yellowjackets boys made the class AA playoffs.

Andrews – The Andrews Yellowjackets head into the 2026/27 year with their coaching staff almost intact so expectations will be the same to compete for region championships and make deep runs in the class A playoffs.
After spending several years in Class AA, the Yellowjackets will move to Class A region 9 this season. The region schedule will reduce travel time and renew some area rivalries.
The Yellowjackets had two region champs in 2026 with Baseball and Softball winning region 6AA. Each team hosted the district 8 playoffs with the Softball team advancing all the way to the lower state finals.
The girls track team finished 10th at the state AA meet while Boys’ soccer, boys’ basketball, football, and volleyball all made the playoffs.
“While we had a good season overall athletically, we feel it wasn’t up to our standards. We were in a difficult region in several sports and being one the smallest schools in the region depth was an issue. We are going to try and bounce back this season,” said athletic director Scott Durham.
Coach Durham will head into his 14th season at the helm of the Yellowjacket football program with 89-52/ 44-22 record. Last season they made the playoffs for the 13th consecutive season by finishing third in the region.
Joy Weisner is back to head up the volleyball and softball teams. Her softball came within two games of playing for the schools sixth state championship falling in game one of the lower state finals. In volleyball her squad reached the first round of the playoffs.
Defensive Coordinator/ LB coach Richie Poston won another region championship on the diamond this season as the head baseball coach. It was his third region championship in the last four years.
Head boys basketball coach Lamar Brown guided his team to a fourth place finish earning them a playoff berth. They ended the season in the first round. He has solid core group returning that will be looking for a region championship.
Tevin Wallace, the girls head basketball coach, has been looking forward to this year with his. He returns his entire roster from last season. His young ladies have taken their lumps the past couple of seasons but they have gotten bigger, stronger, and more experienced.
