New Title

Beaufort – Though he has moved around quite a bit since 2010, Bradley Adams may have found a more permanent home.

Adams was recently named the new athletic director at Beaufort High School, moving down the coast from Georgetown High. Adams was the head coach and athletic director at Georgetown from 2010-16 before taking the head coaching job at Union County.

After two years at Union County, Adams became the head coach at Woodruff High. He moved back to Georgetown prior to the 2023 season as head coach and athletic director.

“Beaufort is a really attractive job,” Adams said. “It’s a great community, a beautiful place to live. We have great support and a great administration. The leadership in the school is very strong. There is a strong culture where everyone is held accountable to high standards. I am really excited to be joining this family and excited about the opportunities to grow the athletic program.”

Adams posted a head coaching record in football of 83-72 overall in 14 seasons. He won 40 games at Georgetown in his first stint and had 33 wins at Woodruff.

Adams says the main thing he was attracted to when he began to pursue the possibility of moving was the school’s athletic successes across the board.

“There is a commitment to winning, that stood out to me,” said Adams, a 1998 graduate of Loris High School. “The teams compete for region championships. The leadership gives these kids what they need to compete and the kids take pride in winning.”

Adams has had to hit the ground running this summer. While working to move his family and settle in, he has been interviewing candidates for open head coaching positions. Beaufort has openings in girls tennis, girls soccer and boys soccer.

“On day one I was setting up interviews,” Adams said. “We’ve had some good interest. We are making headway. We will have folks in place here soon.”

The start of fall sports is just around the corner. Preseason practices begin in early August. The football team will open its 2024 season on Aug. 23rd at Fort Dorchester.
