North Augusta – Fox Creek High School athletic director Derrick Quinn is happy with the
staff of head coaches he has in place for the 2023-24 school year.
“We have an outstanding athletic staff with lots of experience who continue to strive to
get better,” said Quinn, who is part of that staff as the softball head coach.
Quinn is preparing for his ninth season in charge of the program. The Predators went 16-10 last
season and went 1-2 in their district tournament in the AA state playoffs.
Andrew Peckham will return for his 11th season as the boys basketball coach. The Predators went
15-14 last season and lost in the first round of the AA state playoffs.
Peckham will not return in the interim role as the baseball head coach. Instead, the new head
coach is Roby Gillespie. Peckham became the interim head coach when Jake Smith had to leave
the post prior to the start of the season.
Gillespie inherits a team that went 14-12 last year and reached the championship round of its
district tournament. Seven freshmen and sophomores were starters.
Gillespie is a 2014 graduate of Fox Creek, having played for former head coach Wesley Brown.
He started as an assistant at Fox Creek before going to Strom Thurmond where he served as the junior
varsity head coach and varsity assistant.
“We are very excited about the hiring of Roby Gillespie,” Quinn said. “He is a Fox Creek alum
who I believe will do a great job.”
Lemuel Lackey returns for his fourth season as the football head coach. The Predators only went
2-9 but did reach the state playoffs.
Anita Clark is back for her second season as the girls basketball head coach. Jake Torres returns
for his second season as the boys lacrosse coach, leading Fox Creek to a 7-7 record last season.
Kaitlyn Edison is back for her fourth year as volleyball head coach. She led led the Lady Predators
to a 17-14-2 record and a region championship. They advanced to the second round of the state
playoffs.
Mark Thomas is in charge of both the boys and girls golf programs. The boys team finished
eighth in the AA state tournament.
Bill Warnken will be back as the boys and girls cross country head coach but will not return as
the girls soccer head coach. Jason Spinks will be the new girls soccer coach, taking over a team that went
18-3-1, won its region title and reached the third round of the state playoffs.
Kate Schladenhauffen will be the boys soccer coach, Taylor Thomas is going into her eighth
year as cheer head coach, and Jessica Weir is entering her fifth year as girls tennis head coach
